In this one-hour event, participants learned what educators recently shared with us on the current use and future growth of technology in our schools, including digital whiteboards, digital content, and e-books. Participants also got first-hand insight from a senior school administrator, who discussed how technology is being used in his school district and what he sees for the future.
Participants heard from:
- Kathy Mickey, Senior Editor at Simba Information, and Kathleen Brantley, MDR's Leader of Channel Management. They provided high-level findings from K-12 Technology Tools and Trends 2009. Published by Simba in conjunction with MDR, this new report is based on interviews with educators and a survey of technology coordinators and curriculum directors about the effectiveness of currently used technology in their schools and their purchasing plans in the next five years.
- Ed Zaiontz, Executive Director of Information Services, Round Rock Independent School District in Round Rock, Texas. Ed discussed hardware and software trends in his district, which contains a mix of Title I and non-Title I schools. He provided insight on how curricular purchasing decisions are being made and how teachers are involved in the process.
